Cigliuti Langhe Nebbiolo 2018 (750ml)
Cigliuti Langhe Nebbiolo 2018 (750ml)
The winery has belonged to the Cigliuti family for four generations. It was given its name, Fratelli Cigliuti, by Renato’s father and uncle, who until 1964 used to sell grapes and unbottled wine on the local market. It was his grandfather, his father Leone and his uncle Romualdo who handed the traditional art of making wine down to Renato, the current owner, his wife Dina and his daughters Claudia and Silvia. Renato Cigliuti began working for the family business when he was a slip of a lad and, growing up, decided to carry it on himself. At the same time, he also decided to change its winemaking philosophy. He had always believed that the local Langhe soil was capable of producing high quality, long-lasting wines. He thus began to thin the grapes in his vineyards, a technique practised by only a handful of producers at the time. His neighbours would ask him if he was mad — those were the postwar years and throwing away food wasn’t something to be taken lightly! Renato used to reply that, since he couldn’t have quality and quantity both at once, he preferred to opt for quality. According to him, quality was something that had to be put in glass, which is how, in 1964, he came to release his first 300 bottles of Barbaresco.
Over the years Renato didn’t expand his winery a great deal, mainly because he didn’t think his daughters would be interested in working the land. As far as he was concerned, it was strictly a man’s business. Claudia and Silvia proved him wrong, starting to help out in the vineyards in their summer holidays. After a few years, it had become natural for them to cultivate the same work and passion as their parents.
Four people work in this family-run company: Renato, his wife Dina and their daughters Claudia and Silvia, who oversee production from the beginning to the end of the process. They spend most of their time in the vineyards because, in their opinion, it is precisely the vineyards that can give life to great wines with a personality all of their own— wines capable of capturing the characteristics of a vintage and the identity of a terroir.
Claudia and Silvia still follow this philosophy and this enables them to work directly in the vineyards, overseeing the production of their wines from start to finish.
Work in the cellar is kept to a bare minimum and the wines are left to follow their own natural course. No select yeasts are used, only native, and grapes ferment in steel vats at a controlled temperature. All the wines are aged on wood, save for the Dolcetto which stays in steel vats through to bottling.
GRAPE VARIETY : 100% Nebbiolo
FERMENTATION AND MACERATION : in steel vats at controlled temperatures.
AGEING : on steel and in Slavonian oak barrels

Some items are removed from original packaging, and placed in protective shipping containers to ensure safe delivery.
While most orders are shipped the day they are placed. The demand for limited supplies will occasionally deplete our stock of a paticular product, in this case it will generally take an additional 1 - 2 business days to receive the product and fufill the order.
Although it is rare, if there was a packing error, we would like to resolve it for you! In the event that we shipped an incorrect item, we may ask you to hold on to those items and the exsisting packaging so that we can arrange for a return pick up. Occasionally a chosen vintage of a wine may sell out or be replaced by a new release after your order is placed. Bottles of wine that are under $20, will not hold up an order and we will simply automatically substitute the wine with the comparable vintage. Please be assured that we will only substitute with a vintage for the same wine. Wine that is valued more than $20 per bottle, we will attempt to contact the customer. After two attempts, the available vintage will be automatically shipped out. (The return policy of $15 return shipping costs, and 15% restocking fee will be enforced.)
Yiannis Wine will not be held liable for damages to orders due to weather conditions during shipping. Potential exposure to extreme heat or cold may damage items during shipping. As we can not be held responsible for products damaged due to weather, we suggest you choose FedEx Express to ship your items and/or add ice packs to your order (during extreme heat) to help prevent damages. We can also place your orders on weather hold until weather conditions improve. Wine is usually fine if it is exposed to some heat (as that is the way wine is made.....Heated so the yeast is activated). If your wine is warm, please place them in a cool, dark room so the wine can "settle."
Most returns will be accepted, but ALL bottles must be returned to get credit. A half bottle or empty bottle of something that did not taste GOOD is fine to return, but the customer will not receive full credit if the bottle is not included.
Sometimes an order is returned to our warehouse after several delivery attempts at the address provided by the customer. We are happy to reship the order however, reshipment fees will apply. Please contact us and we will assist you with the reshipment arrangements.
We are happy to assist with any returns for items purchased that you no longer want or need. Please let us know and we will arrange for the return and issue a credit or refund for your returned items, less the return shipping and handling charges.
