Domaine Faiveley - Pinot Noir Bourgogne 2022 (750ml)
Domaine Faiveley - Pinot Noir Bourgogne 2022 (750ml)
Producer Information
A love of wine has been passed on from one Faiveley generation to the next for more than 180 years. The Domaine has always remained in the same family and today Erwan and Eve, the 7th generation of the Faiveley family, are at the helm and are keen to respect the traditions and savoir-faire of the family while looking to the future.
Domaine Faiveley believes that the quality of the wines comes from the fruit. To make sure they are able to get the best fruit and resulting wines, the team has invested in separate winemaking and viticulture teams in the Côte d’Or and Côte Chalonnaise, fine-tuned their barrel selection, and built a state-of-the-art winery in Mercurey. Last year, the family completed the renovation of their cellars in the heart of Nuits-St-Georges.
The result is classic Burgundies with wonderful longevity, aromatics and an unique, elegant style. Recognised as one of the finest producers in Burgundy, the Domaine continues to go from strength to strength under Erwan and Eve.
Vineyards
Burgundy’s vineyards date back to the Gallo-Roman era, but were abandoned for many years. Thanks to the monks from the Abbey of Cîteaux, well-known for the quality of their work in the vines and their knowledge of terroir, these vineyards were developed from the XIth century.
Winemaking
Domaine Faiveley vinifies it Bourgogne Pinot Noir from grapes grown in the domain’s vineyards as well as selected grapes and musts from its partner winemakers. A quality control is made on each plot we have reserved so that they can check the quality of the grapes and the professionalism of their winegrowers partners.
The wine is partly aged in vats and partly in French oak barrels for 12 to 14 months in thecellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Vintage Information
Winter was relatively mild with average levels of rainfall. There were some frosts between 10-12th April, but the vines did not suffer too badly with only Bourgogne Chardonnay and Givry parcels affected. Bud burst occurred in mid-April, followed by flowering on the 18 May in the Côte Chalonnaise and 23rd May in the Côte d’Or. The vines developed quickly during the spring, thanks to the warmth and rain. The month of May was a record breaker in terms of heat (as high as 30°C) and was also very dry, and by the beginning of June the vines had made up for the lost time caused by the spring frosts. June storms helped the vines during the dry summer months, enabling them to withstand the intense summer heat thanks to the water reserves in the soils.
This year the harvests took place in the glorious sunshine and the fruit displayed exceptional ripeness with sugar levels in line with the average. Harvest began on 27th August in the Côte Chalonnaise with Rully ‘Les Villeranges’ and Mercurey red. Picking in the Côte de Beaune began on 29th August with Corton-Charlemagne, Corton ‘Clos des Cortons Faiveley’, Puligny 1ers Crus and Volnay ‘Frémiets’. In the Côte de Nuits the first of the grapes were picked on the 1st September and all the Grand Crus were harvested in 8 days. The harvests drew to a close on the 10th September between Gevrey-Chambertin and Marsannay. It was a high-quality harvest this year and the grapes were intensely fragrant and in perfect health.
This was the first growing season that followed fully organic principles and officially requested to start the conversion to certified organic.
Harvest in numbers: 15 days of cutting, 250 pickers, average yields : 50hL/ha (white), 40hL/ha (red), 300 parcels harvested, 2300 barrels filled (inc. 500 new barrels)
Tasting Note
Beautiful ruby colour. This wine has pleasant, fresh, red-fruit aromas on the nose, which we also savour on the palate. It has rich and very ripe substance, with fine round tannins. It’s a very well-structured and pleasant wine.

There is an additional charge to re-route orders already in transit.
Some items are removed from original packaging, and placed in protective shipping containers to ensure safe delivery.
While most orders are shipped the day they are placed. The demand for limited supplies will occasionally deplete our stock of a paticular product, in this case it will generally take an additional 1 - 2 business days to receive the product and fufill the order.
Although it is rare, if there was a packing error, we would like to resolve it for you! In the event that we shipped an incorrect item, we may ask you to hold on to those items and the exsisting packaging so that we can arrange for a return pick up. If you find that items are missing from your order, we are happy to assist you in reshipping the missing items or processing a credit for the missing item/items. Occasionally a chosen vintage of a wine may sell out or be replaced by a new release after your order is placed. Bottles of wine that are under $20, will not hold up an order and we will simply automatically substitute the wine with the comparable vintage. Please be assured that we will only substitute with a vintage for the same wine. Wine that is valued more than $20 per bottle, we will attempt to contact the customer. After two attempts, the available vintage will be automatically shipped out. (The return policy of $15 return shipping costs, and 15% restocking fee will be enforced.)
Yiannis Wine will not be held liable for damages to orders due to weather conditions during shipping. Potential exposure to extreme heat or cold may damage items during shipping. As we can not be held responsible for products damaged due to weather, we suggest you choose FedEx Express to ship your items and/or add ice packs to your order (during extreme heat) to help prevent damages. We can also place your orders on weather hold until weather conditions improve. Wine is usually fine if it is exposed to some heat (as that is the way wine is made.....Heated so the yeast is activated). If your wine is warm, please place them in a cool, dark room so the wine can "settle."
Most returns will be accepted, but ALL bottles must be returned to get credit. A half bottle or empty bottle of something that did not taste GOOD is fine to return, but the customer will not receive full credit if the bottle is not included.
Sometimes an order is returned to our warehouse after several delivery attempts at the address provided by the customer. We are happy to reship the order however, reshipment fees will apply. Please contact us and we will assist you with the reshipment arrangements.
We are happy to assist with any returns for items purchased that you no longer want or need. Please let us know and we will arrange for the return and issue a credit or refund for your returned items, less the return shipping and handling charges.
