Trig Point Merlot (Diamond Dust Vineyard) 2022 (750ml)
Trig Point Merlot (Diamond Dust Vineyard) 2022 (750ml)
“A “trig” has been used for many years to establish boundary lines. Trigonometrical stations were set on the top of hills and used as surveying sites. Just as my father was a land surveyor and used these trigs as a reference, so do I when it comes to well-known vineyard sites” Nick Goldschmidt, Winemaker.
Trig Point is produced by Nick Goldschmidt and his wife Yolyn. After flying the globe for many years as the head-winemaker for the likes of Simi, Allied Domecq, and Beam Estates, Nick decided to start a family company with his wife Yolyn in 1998. The goal of the company was to focus on site specific wine making from great vineyard sites from around the world. Having produced so many world class wines from around the globe, Nick knew exactly from which vineyard sites he would choose to make his wines.
The wines Nick and Yolyn Goldschmidt produce are all single vineyard, handcrafted, small production, artisan wines.
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Nick found his way to viticulture after completing his Bachelor of Science in Canterbury at Lincoln University where he pursued a Diploma in Horticulture.
After a year of working in organics, plant breeding and working in the vineyards, Nick went on to study viticulture at Charles Sturt University in Australia. After completing three vintages back in New Zealand, he returned to South Australia to complete his post graduate degree in Winemaking at Roesworthy.
In 1989 he completed his first vintage in California at Carneros Creek making Pinot Noir and then headed to Chile as the winemaker for Caliterra. In 1990 he became the VP/Winemaker for Simi Winery in California. At the time, Simi Winery was owned by LVMH where Nick was also asked to help out with Cloudy Bay in New Zealand, Terrazas in Argentina and Ruffino in Italy – thus beginning his time as a ‘flying winemaker.’ Along the way, he developed his own brands: Forefathers and Goldschmidt Vineyard. Simi was eventually purchased by Constellation in 1999 and in 2003 Nick became Senior VP/Winemaker for Allied-Domecq, where he managed winemaking for the California brands Clos du Bois, Atlas Peak, William Hill, Buena Vista and Gary Farrell among others. Allied-Domecq was sold to Jim Beam in 2006 and Nick added Geyser Peak and Wild Horse to the brands he was overseeing.
In 2008 Nick went out on his own full time, making single vineyard wines and continuing to consult for 16 wineries in 6 countries. He continues his fascination with new technology and biodynamics.

Winemaker's Notes
Diamond Dust Vineyard produces wines that are bold, velvety, and soft with intense fruit flavors and medium acidity. Red cherry, blueberry and plum are words used to describe this Pomerol style of Merlot. This wine is loved for its elegance, intensity, and complexity. The Merlot grape also adds incredible floral aromatics to the wine which follows onto the palate.
Pairs well with burgers, Italian sausage and many pasta dishes.

The nose of this expressive Merlot explodes with blueberry, raspberry and black plum aromas, while the palate shows a keen balance between juicy berry-lime acidity and plush tannins. After resting a few years in the cellar, this will be brilliant burger wine. – Best of Year 2024, November 2024

There is an additional charge to re-route orders already in transit.
Some items are removed from original packaging, and placed in protective shipping containers to ensure safe delivery.
While most orders are shipped the day they are placed. The demand for limited supplies will occasionally deplete our stock of a paticular product, in this case it will generally take an additional 1 - 2 business days to receive the product and fufill the order.
Although it is rare, if there was a packing error, we would like to resolve it for you! In the event that we shipped an incorrect item, we may ask you to hold on to those items and the exsisting packaging so that we can arrange for a return pick up. Occasionally a chosen vintage of a wine may sell out or be replaced by a new release after your order is placed. Bottles of wine that are under $20, will not hold up an order and we will simply automatically substitute the wine with the comparable vintage. Please be assured that we will only substitute with a vintage for the same wine. Wine that is valued more than $20 per bottle, we will attempt to contact the customer. After two attempts, the available vintage will be automatically shipped out. (The return policy of $15 return shipping costs, and 15% restocking fee will be enforced.)
Yiannis Wine will not be held liable for damages to orders due to weather conditions during shipping. Potential exposure to extreme heat or cold may damage items during shipping. As we can not be held responsible for products damaged due to weather, we suggest you choose FedEx Express to ship your items and/or add ice packs to your order (during extreme heat) to help prevent damages. We can also place your orders on weather hold until weather conditions improve. Wine is usually fine if it is exposed to some heat (as that is the way wine is made.....Heated so the yeast is activated). If your wine is warm, please place them in a cool, dark room so the wine can "settle."
Most returns will be accepted, but ALL bottles must be returned to get credit. A half bottle or empty bottle of something that did not taste GOOD is fine to return, but the customer will not receive full credit if the bottle is not included.
Sometimes an order is returned to our warehouse after several delivery attempts at the address provided by the customer. We are happy to reship the order however, reshipment fees will apply. Please contact us and we will assist you with the reshipment arrangements.
We are happy to assist with any returns for items purchased that you no longer want or need. Please let us know and we will arrange for the return and issue a credit or refund for your returned items, less the return shipping and handling charges.
